Role title:Business Unit Director Skale function: Market Research - Client Management Reports to (name and title):Director: Client Service Skale position: 80 Location: Durban, Johannesburg & Cape Town Purpose of the role: The purpose of this position is to retain and develop the existing client base and, in so doing, deliver on profitability through a highly skilled and motivated team. The incumbent will have sound marketing knowledge and have a thorough understanding of market research and will be tasked with the professional management of a team, providing strategic and relevant marketing insights to clients based on analysis of market research data and ensuring a high quality of work whilst deadlines are met. Role deliverables: Financial management: • A major contribution to and responsibility for the growth and profitability of your sectors/clients as a significant part of TNS annual business plan • Provide solutions to company barriers that are holding back profitability and growth in the relevant sectors • Accountable for achievement of annual GM and profit results. • Strong proficiency in pricing for success and profit Proposal process: • Generate RFP’s • Accountable for overall integrity of proposal/pitch • Design to the budget while maximizing client spend Project management: • Proactively work with team and suppliers for process improvement to benefit client • Responsible for the negotiations with client over changes impacting on original brief • Responsible for ensuring materials meet client business needs Analysis/reporting: • Ensuring client deliverables meet client expectations and needs; deliver excellence Development of clients: • Identification and development of new clients in these sectors and continued growth of existing clients through ongoing research excellence and relevant expertise. • Have a thorough understanding of the client business and market Leadership and management of people: • Maintain motivation in team through clear communication • Lead development of account strategy and communication to the team • Recognize team and individual achievement (including client feedback) • Ensure all direct reports have objectives and development plans that support company strategy • Management contribution as part of the Senior Management team of the company Communication: • Responsible for clear and accurate reports, presentations and proposals • Responsible for consultation with key stakeholders • Actively listen and communicate openly with clients and internal teams Scope of the role: • Number of people reporting into this role: 5-9 (JRE’s - AM’s) • Client target: Responsible for regional revenue targets • Client contact: Extensive contact with senior-level client service teams and external clients • WPP / Regional responsibilities: none Knowledge and skills required: • Relevant tertiary education (B.Com / B.Bus Sci Marketing / relevant degree pref) • 5-7 yrs relevant experience in market research and analysis • Management experience • Knowledge of research processes and methodologies (quantitative and qualitative) • Ability to advise on research methodologies and products • Statistical analysis & understanding of client needs • Data analysis and interpretation • Marketing processes • Project Management • Presentation skills • Interpersonal, analytical thinking, communication (verbal & written) and problem solving skills • Computer application (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) Behavioral dimensions: • Communication skills • Team skills • Ability to multi-task • Ability to handle stress/work under pressure • Use initiative & motivational ability • Deadline orientated • Willingness to accept responsibility and accountability for work • Strategic thinking ability to add value to research results • Understanding of practical applications in the context of real life marketing problems • Team management Each employee is expected to demonstrate the Precision Growth values and behaviors in addition to their specific responsibilities: Enquiring challengers, precise thinkers, Influential advisors and Leading experts.
