Rom. 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written:“For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” (All real and certain perils the believers Paul wrote to were going through at the moment or would soon encounter. We are not immune. All of life’s joys and sorrows will be our part and parcel in this land of an environment polluted by sin. We can say we are lucky or that would never happen to me but it really doesn’t work that way. 2 solders hit the beach in war. One was scared to death and the other was calm. The fearful asked why the other was so calm. He said, “I figure if a bullet has my name on it I can’t do anything to stop it." The fearful said, “That’s not the one I’m worried about. It’s the one that says, “To Whom It May Concern that scares me.” Well, there are a lot of To Whom It May Concern trials out there. There is a process God has of getting us ready for heaven and it doesn’t involve all good stuff. It involves endurance through trials and a willingness to not give up so that we trust in the Lord although we don’t have any immediate answers at the moment. The downward slide of perils puts us in a line like sheep going to the slaughterhouse. We wait not with surprise us with the inevitability of what we are facing. All these are designed by the enemy to make us bitter when God uses them to make us better and more like Christ. After all if you want to be more like Jesus you are going to have to encounter all that He encountered to come out the victor. God has a purpose in these encounters He can use for good. Heb. 5:8-9, James 1: 2-3, I Pet. 5:10. You can do the study on these things. Know that God is leading you through all these things to deliver you and help you stand victorious over them. Don’t fear them as much as fight through them. The prize awaits you and you have to preserve to fully appreciate it at the end of the day James 1:12. Look up you are moving forward and are on the winning side.)
