Romans 1:11-12 ESV For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you— that is, that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine. Paul had the true heart of a pastor/shepherd. He longed to see the people who made up the church in Rome so as to encourage and strengthen them. In his next statement is where one of the key rewards of pastoring is revealed. Paul assures the people that when he ministers to them as a shepherd to his sheep, their own faith is just as much an encouragement to him as his is to them. As you grow in your faith as a member of the local church body and as you share a relationship with your pastor, you will actually minister to your pastor! One of my favorite things about preaching the Word of God has always been seeing the spiritual light of understanding come on in the faces of people. As you get excited about the word being preached to you, you actually minister to your pastor. #truth Thank you Lord for the blessings we receive as we mutually encourage each other while we seek your truths. Although the unexpected may happen from time to time, may we never give up meeting together as the church and encouraging each other as your children wherever that may take us (Hebrews 10:23-25). #wearethechurch James
