Ron Mulock, the former mayor of Penrith and deputy premier of NSW, has died. Mr Mulock, a lawyer by trade, served for six years on Penrith Council, including three as mayor from 1968 to 1971. He became a passionate advocate of Penrith after moving west from Marrickville shortly after completing his university law degree. He later became a life member of the Penrith Panthers rugby league club. Mulock entered Parliament in 1971 as an MP for the state seat of Nepean. Advertisement He was promoted to the frontbench in the first cabinet of the Wran cabinet and would serve in a further 10 portfolios before his retirement, including Education, Health and Transport. He was sworn in as deputy premier in 1984
