Ronaldo or Bale To Man United, Chelsea Boosted In Pursuit Of Schalke Hotshot By Arjun Some on June 15, 2013 | 0 Comments and 0 Reactions Manchester United Determined To Land Either Of Ronaldo or Bale David Moyes’ summer recruitment drive at his new club is all set to hit top gear if reports are to be believed. Manchester United are apparently ready to splash the cash in their attempt to lure a marquee name to Old Trafford and it is former favourite Cristiano Ronaldo and reigning PFA Player of the Year Gareth Bale, who top the wishlist. Signing both Ronaldo, who has two year remaining on his contract with Real Madrid, and Bale, who is much coveted by Real, may be an unrealistic proposition but the top brass at United are convinced they can get one of the two depending on transfer activities of the Madrid club. THT Verdict: A common theme that looks set to run all through the summer, but one that has little chance of coming to fruition. Ronaldo admittedly took to social media to dispel rumours of a new deal at Real but that might have more to do with engaging in strong arm negotiation tactics with his current club rather than intending to force a move back to his former club. As far as Bale is concerned, it is difficult to foresee Tottenham selling their star player to another Premier League club. Both Chelsea and Manchester United have been previously frustrated in their pursuit of Luka Modric, who was finally sold off to Real and there is no fathomable reason why Daniel Levy’s stance would have changed since then. Draxler Open To Chelsea Transfer Highly rated FC Schalke 04 playmaker Julian Draxler has encouraged Chelsea to make a move for him in the transfer window. The London club has been linked with the talented youngster in recent weeks and Draxler’s latest comments will intensify speculation regarding his future. ‘Which boy doesn’t dream about playing for Real, Barca, Chelsea or Manchester United? There is nothing to be ashamed of,’ said Draxler. THT Verdict: The German international is one of the most promising young players in the Bundesliga and it is perhaps just a matter of time before he leaves Veltins-Arena for one of the top clubs in Europe. But whether that move happens this summer and to Chelsea remains to be seen. Draxler has recently signed a new deal, which runs through till 2018, at Schalke and while in the madcap world of football transfers, it should not be construed as a guarantee of the player staying, it will be a surprise if the Gelsenkirchen club parts way with Draxler for anything less than a gargantuan amount. Chelsea too are not exactly in dire need of a playmaker, no matter the quality of the player in question. The club is more than well-stocked in that particular position and Jose Mourinho is not renowned for playing too many of that ilk together at the same time. Marchisio Eyes Juventus Exit Claudio Marchisio has alerted suitors of his availability by admitting that he may look to leave Juventus this summer. With Monaco and Manchester United thought to be interested in signing the Italian international, Marchisio revealed his pride at being linked with such clubs. He did though make it clear that he would first seek reassurance from his present club regarding his role in the team before deciding on a future course of action. THT Verdict: The emergence of Paul Pogba and the excellence of Arturo Vidal this season have adversely impacted Marchisio’s standing in the team and understandably the combative midfielder is unsettled presently. But while he may be deemed surplus to requirement by the Old Lady, there are other big clubs in Europe who would welcome the 27 year old with open arms. Juventus too may look to offload Marchisio if the price is right as they look to fund the signing of a top striker this summer. Monaco have already made some statement of intent in the transfer market thus far and would love to bring a player of Marchisio’s caliber on board to partner Joao Moutinho – another new signing – in the middle of the park. Manchester United too are in need of a central midfielder and Marchisio will fit the bill nicely. Other Rumours Both Barcelona and Bayern Munich are lining up moves for £20 million rated Laurent Koscielny. Everton are ready to offer Leighton Baines a new deal in order to block any potential move to Manchester United. AC Milan have initiated talks with QPR for the transfer of Julio Caesar. Hull City are set to sign Maynor Figueroa from relegated Wigan Athletic. Bayern Munich have joined Manchester United in the list of suitors for Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara. Anzi Makhachkala midfielder Odil Ahmedov has claimed that Arsenal scouts are monitoring him. Tottenham have earmarked Corinthians midfielder Paulinho as replacement of ageing Scott Parker.
