Ronnie Ellis is a journalist covering KY politics for a network of 12 local and regional newspapers in Kentucky. This week he wrote a column reflecting on the many inspiring yet ordinary Kentuckians he has met while covering various stories around the state. Its a good read. He writes, As grubby as life and many around us can look, there are good and fascinating people in Kentucky who refuse to give up on her future. While many reporters tend to look at the world from the perspective of people in power, Ronnie also sees the humanity, leadership, and important contributions of everyday people. That matters. It really matters. In this column, Ronnie mentions a day in Frankfort when he was introduced to many concerned citizens from different regions of the state lobbying at the Capitol. If our memory serves us, this photo was taken on that day. The event was a press conference about establishing a statewide Affordable Housing Trust Fund. That bill passed, but years later KFTC members and our allies are still working to implement - and fully fund - the idea in local communities around the state. Heres to all the ordinary, yet extraordinary, Kentuckians who are working hard to build a brighter future.
