Roosevelts speech on the secret map By Mark Weber ..... Translated from the French version of this article and incuding the same article in french. Franklin D. Roosevelt has often lied to achieve its goals. In a radio speech to the nation Oct. 23, 1940, for example, he gave the most solemn assurance that he had made no secret agreement in one form or another, directly or indirectly, to any government or any nation in a part of the world, to involve this nation [the United States] in a war or for any other purpose. But U.S. documents, British and Polish (mostly made public many years later) showed that this very solemn assurance was an impudent lie. Roosevelt had in fact signed many secret agreements to involve the United States in the war. Of all his speeches, the best example of Roosevelts ability to lie is perhaps his 1941 speech to the Navy Day [Navy Day] aired on national radio on October 27. Many things had happened in the months before this speech. March 11, 1941, Roosevelt signed the Lend-Lease Act of allowing increased military aid to Britain in violation of American neutrality and international law deliveries. In April, Roosevelt illegally sent U.S. troops to occupy Greenland. On May 27, he proclaimed a state of unlimited national emergency, a kind of declaration of war that circumvented presidential power constitutionally reserved to Congress. Following the Axis attack against the USSR in June, the Roosevelt administration began to deliver massive amounts of military equipment to the Soviets besieged. These items by boat also flagrantly violated international law. In July, Roosevelt illegally sent U.S. troops to occupy Iceland. The President began his speech of Navy Day, recalling that German submarines had torpedoed the U.S. destroyer Greer September 4, 1941 and the U.S. destroyer Kearny on Oct. 17. With a highly emotional language, he described these incidents as acts of aggression not caused, directed against all Americans. He said that although he had wanted to avoid conflict, the shooting had started and that the story noted that had fired the first shot. That Roosevelt deliberately omitted to mention was that in both cases, the U.S. destroyers were engaged in operations against attack submarines, which opened fire in self-defense and as a last resort. Hitler wanted to avoid war with the United States, and had expressly ordered the German submarines to avoid at all costs confrontation with U.S. warships, except to avoid imminent destruction. Roosevelt orders the U.S. Navy to shoot on sight were designed to create incidents like those he piously denounced as inevitable. His provocative to goad Hitler so that the war in the United States said efforts had failed and most Americans were still opposed to direct intervention in the European conflict. And so, in an attempt to convince his listeners that Germany was a real threat to the security of America, Roosevelt continued his speech Navy Day by a startling announcement: Hitler has often been claimed that his plans of conquest did not extend beyond the Atlantic Ocean. I have in my possession a secret map made in Germany by Hitlers government - by the planners of the New Order. This is a map of South America and parts of Central America, as Hitler proposes to reorganize. This map, explained the President, showed South America as well as our great lifeline the Panama Canal, divided into five vassal states under German domination. This card, my friends, reveals the Nazi plan, [led] not only against South America but against the United States. Roosevelt continued by revealing that he had also in his possession another document made in Germany by Hitlers government. It is a detailed plan to abolish all existing religions - Catholic, Protestant, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, and Jewish, that Germany will impose a thank you to his world, if Hitler wins. The property of all churches will be seized by the Reich and its puppets. The cross and all other symbols of religion are prohibited. The clergy will be liquidated. In place of the churches of our civilization there will be an international Nazi church, a church that will be served by orators sent by the Nazi government. And instead of the Bible, the words of Mein Kampf will be imposed and presented as Holy Scripture. And instead of the cross of Christ, there will be two symbols: the swastika and the naked sword. Roosevelt stressed the importance of his revelations by saying: Let us think well these truths claims that I delivered you about current and future plans of Hitlerism. All Americans, he said, are faced with the choice between the kind of world we want to live, and the kind of world that Hitler and his hordes would impose on us. Therefore, we are called to participate in the destruction of Hitlerism. The German government responded immediately Roosevelt speech denouncing his documents as an absurd fraud. The Italian government declared that if Roosevelt did not publish his map within 24 hours, he would win the universal forger reputation. At a press conference the next day, a reporter asked quite naturally to the President a copy of the secret map. But Roosevelt refused, insisting only that she had undoubtedly a reliable source. As often happened, the truth about the card did not come out until many years after the war it was a fake made by the British Intelligence Service, most likely in the Engineering Laboratory of Ontario, Canada. William Stephenson (code name: Intrepid), Chief Operations Officer of British intelligence in North America, passed to U.S. intelligence chief, William Donovan, who gave it to Roosevelt. In a paper published at the end of 1984, the former British agent Ivar Bryce claimed credit for having the idea of secret map. Of course, the other document cited by Roosevelt, meant to reveal the German plans to destroy the worlds religions, was just as fraudulent as the secret map. Some U.S. officials were aware of British attempts to deceive the government and the American people. In a memorandum dated September 5, 1941 addressed to Secretary of State Cordell Hull, the Assistant Secretary of State Adolf Berle, warns that British intelligence agents were making false documents exposing alleged German conspiracies. Americans should be on guard about these rumors British invention, Berle concluded. It is doubtful that one of the great contemporary Roosevelt, including Stalin, Hitler and even Churchill, has never spoken a lie also responsible as impudent speech than those in his speech of Navy Day in 1941. On at least one occasion, Roosevelt recognized private determination to lie to achieve its goals. During a conversation on 14 May 1942 with his close Jewish adviser, Treasury Secretary Henry Morgenthau Jr., the President remarked candidly, I can have one policy for Europe and one diametrically opposite for North and South America. I can be completely inconsistent, and even more, I am perfectly willing to mislead and tell untruths if it helps us win the war. Sources ...Our race is our nation Bratzel, John F., and Leslie B.
