Rosenberg Announces 2014 National Night Out Activities and Calls on Neighborhoods to Partner in Fighting Crime by Organizing Block Parties! ROSENBERG, TEXAS (August 12, 2014): The 31st Annual National Night Out (NNO), a unique crime/drug prevention event in which Rosenberg and over 10,000 communities from all over the United States participate, will be held in Texas on Tuesday, October 7, 2014. The local event is sponsored by the Rosenberg Police Department (RPD) and facilitated with community assistance. It is designed to increase crime and drug prevention awareness, strengthen neighborhood and police community partnership and inform criminals that our neighbors and community are fighting back. Rosenberg celebrates National Night Out through neighborhood block parties, a community event at Brazos Town Center, and via interactions with local police and fire officers. Through community partnerships with local residents and neighborhoods, the RPD hopes to make this year’s NNO the biggest and best ever in terms of neighborhood block parties. “Our real focus this year is on partnering with the community to develop and organize neighborhood block parties,” said Rosenberg Assistant Police Chief Tracie Dunn. “We invite anyone who is interested in uniting with their neighbors to work with us to organize a NNO block party. With the help of technologies such as Nextdoor, neighborhood organization can be facilitated literally at our fingertips. We encourage anyone interested to contact us so that we can help them get started!” To encourage neighborhood parties, RPD is offering a pizza incentive to all neighborhood parties registered by September 15. Registered neighborhood parties will be entered into a drawing to win twelve pizzas for their NNO event. As an added incentive, block party attendees can enter to win Rosenberg Police or Rosenberg Fire “prize” packages that evening including: home fire extinguisher with fireman install and home fire “inspection”; and a home survey by the police department crime prevention officer. For further information and resources to help organize a neighborhood party, including information on the Nextdoor tool for neighborhood organization, visit CityofRosenberg/NNO, or contact the Rosenberg Police Department at (832) 595-3700. The final registration deadline for neighborhood parties is September 30 to help ensure public safety officers are available to attend at some point in the evening. Interested block party participants should complete the registration form available at CityofRosenberg/NNO.
