Rosie ODonnell Almost Played Miss Hannigan The disappointed cohost of The View auditioned for Broadways Annie nine times. By: Brandon Voss January the 1st, 2015 Source: Advocate Speaking to Theatermania for their I Hope I Get It: Stories From the Audition Room series, Rosie ODonnell revealed that she auditioned nine times and was pretty sure she had landed the role of boozy orphanage matron Miss Hannigan in the 2012 Broadway revival of Annie. Much to her disappointment, the part ultimately went to Tony winner Katie Finneran, who was later replaced by Glees Jane Lynch. The cohost of The View jokes that she wants to start a petition to get more actors like Rosie who maybe arent on key but have a lot of enthusiasm for the genre. Cameron Diaz plays Miss Hannigan in the new Annie remake, which is now in movie theaters. O’Donnells Broadway credits include Fiddler on the Roof, Seussical, and Grease.
