I talked to Adam last night after 11 days in the Twisp/Pateros - TopicsExpress

I talked to Adam last night after 11 days in the Twisp/Pateros area building fire lines and setting backfires in the 90/100+ degree heat. The accessment is now 300 homes/structures burned. He said it was an experience he will never forget. At times they would try and protect peoples homes and then the wind would shift and they would be called back because it was just too dangerous. All they could do was apologize to the homeowners. He said it was so difficult to watch and see the looks on peoples faces as they watched their homes and belongings lost to the flames and incredible heat before they fled. He said many times the tankers would come by and dump water and fire retardent all over them because they were so close. They are on standby in case they are needed again. They had one of their crews nearly overtaken and had to get out through the flames. They are all safe but it was a truly scary time. I think this is just the beginning of the season with an incredibly dry summer here. On the way home he said they drove for miles and miles of nothing but black landscape. A true tragedy. I thank God my boy is safe and that he has been given a second chance for a new life. Prayers to all of those that have lost so much.
