Roswell NM City Council approves Steve Polasek as new city - TopicsExpress

Roswell NM City Council approves Steve Polasek as new city manager. One of our Barking dogs, sniffed this news item off the wire early Thursday morning, that started an avalanche of Questions. Why is this of Interest? Because Steve Polesak is currently the Keller city manager currently working on the 2014-15 financial budget for Keller. Apparently a Roswell Daily Record reporter R. Seyler wrote an article after the meeting about how Polasek was pleased to be approved and how exciting the new challenge was going to be. Not everyone was pleased over the decision. The proposed salary posted was for the city managers salary to be from $110, 000 to $130,000. Seven of eight councilmen approved a salary $155,000 to get Polasek to move to New Mexico. Details of the meeting are located on the Roswell Daily Record website: rdrnews/wordpress/blog/2014/09/10/city-council-approves-polasek-as-new-city-manager/ Did anyone know? Of course not. Who tells their employer that they are looking for a new job? But when Texas Blaze News received the information we contacted Polasek (on his way to Roswell), and he was shocked we found out before he even signed his contract. He confirmed the information was correct, and that he was going to notify everyone of his resignation after the Keller Budget Meeting on Tuesday Sept 16th. Today we live in a social media world; news items get out and spread fast. So waiting till Tuesday wasn’t going to happen. He spent all day yesterday signing papers and handshaking the Roswell Mayor, Councilmen and city staff as well as contacting Keller Mayor, city councilmen, Rachel Reynolds the Keller communication specialist and myself. Where does that leave the City of Keller? Polasek will stay in office till November 9th. The mayor and council will search for a new candidate. Under the city’s existing management structure, Public Safety Director and Police Chief Mark Hafner steps in for Polasek when he is away from the office.
