Rotary Police Officer of the Year Awards NSW Police Force would like to congratulate a record number police officers, civilian employees and volunteers who have been nominated for this year’s Rotary Police Officer of the Year Awards. The nominees will be honoured at The Rotary Clubs of NSW Police Officer of the Year Awards on Friday 8 November 2013. At the gala dinner at Dockside in Cockle Bay, the Rotary Clubs of NSW will select winners in six categories, culminating in the Police Officer of the Year. The six categories are: • The new category: Customer Service Award; • NSW Police Force Employee of the Year Award (Civilian); • Volunteer In Policing Award; • Police Officer – Community Award; • Police Officer of the Year Award – Field Operations; • Police Officer of the Year Award – Specialist Operations. Finalists for the awards were selected from nominations that came from either police commanders or winners of locally-based Rotary Police Officer of the Year Awards. Nominations for the new Customer Service category came from the public, with more than 100 nominations received. The judging panel consists of past Rotary Club Presidents and a retired officer in an advisory capacity. This year has seen a record number of nominations more than double that of previous years. NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione said Every day of the year, the men and women of the NSW Police Force, sworn and civilian, are working their hardest to keep our communities safe. “There are countless occasions every day when our people go above and beyond, but our 18 finalists have each demonstrated an extraordinary commitment and willingness to go that extra step to serve the people of NSW. “Their commitment, passion and determination is to be applauded and their selection as finalists for our night of nights is well deserved, the Commissioner Scipione said.
