Round 13 was against our nemesis, Belmont Belly Boys…. The - TopicsExpress

Round 13 was against our nemesis, Belmont Belly Boys…. The day started well with a winning toss (Lucy now 3/11) and with 2 quick wickets in the first 2 overs the Belly Boys were facing an uphill battle after being 2/4. The Wangi boys had the win in their sights but had an unforeseen wake up call coming their way. We were shown a master class of hitting with their #4 reaching a double century, that’s right 200! Admittedly we did drop this guy 6 times (or more) but at the end of the day he got 200… Sent into bat chasing 307 from 32 overs (explain later… WTF?) this was always going to be a tough ask. All of our batters got a start with only Stolzy going on to get a decent score totalling 88, great effort. We could only manage 208 runs (off 32 overs) which would beat most teams so the boys shouldn’t be too disappointed. Our fielding was the downfall and was summed up with the Statsman ‘Cappa’ counting 14 dropped catches before drinks…. We don’t have a final count but lets just say Gav’s call of “Bora Bora” for an end of year trip is getting more realistic as the $2 fines would of hit an all-time high. Our frustrations were made worse as nearly every shot split the fielders for 4’s or 6’s, this was combined with a left/right batting combination with the field changing every ball or two for 240 odd runs, another 30 odd ‘miss-hits’ that perfectly found the ground between fielders and the muppet umpire pinging us for being ‘too slow’ in getting through our overs, hence we only had 32 overs to bat. Clearly this blokes eyes were painted on as there was no consideration for searching for last balls and Mick Pao (now the fittest bloke in the team) chasing the boundaries 150m into the next oval not to mention him wanting to talk during each over holding us up. The highlight from this game was witnessing 515 runs in 70 overs, even the Indians and Aussies combined can’t do that! No player summaries this week, players stats on the C&S website. In summary - The Wangi boys played the worst game of the year and will be happy to forget whilst the Belly boys had it all go their way. Next round will be a different story, chin up boys! Next week is the top of the table clash against Warners Bay @ the Graveyard and will possibly be the game of the season!
