Round 2 of chemo started today. I had gemzar today, next Tuesday I will have gemzar/taxotere, next Wednesday I will have a neulasta shot and then I have a week off. There are 2 tumors we are targeting. The big one is grapefruit sized and on my colon (left side of my abdomen). The other one is golf ball sized and in my lower abdomen. My lungs/liver are all clear. When they found the tumors on October 3, the radiologist re-read my scans from July and there was something there. Which means, the tumors didnt grow quite as fast as we thought but still much faster than I ever imagined they would. Nothing can quite prepare you for when cancer comes back a second time. My friend Bill had talked me through it prior to it happening but even with his great guidance, it was a blow unlike any I have ever had. I know it was even worse for my family. But ... I have great friends and an unbelievably wonderful support system from friends, to family, to coworkers, to my healthcare team. After a long talk with my good friend Connie on Friday, I have laid all my burdens and fears at Gods feet. I know He has a plan. I hate not knowing the plan (I might be slightly type A) but I know He has it under control. So, after dealing with the fear and the unknown over the last month, I now feel totally at peace. I see and feel the chemo working. I know Gods got His hand all over this and I know there is nothing to be scared of. Thanks as always for your prayers for me and my family. Next CT scan will be sometime in mid-December. Until then, I will sit back and let God and chemo do their thing.
