But in each case the distances are generated indelibly by the sense of time’s fleeting grip on Humanity’s fate or in the memories of many. The sensation of another unstoppable movement into the future and a fading distancing of the past are the two simultaneous energies that merge, quintessentially at a balanced cusp, equal in proportionate significance in many ways, when the midnight hour strikes under the stars that mix with the firework displays of the celebration, when the French champagne is poured and toasts made to prosperity and good health are celebrated with intensity.
