Roy Packards Bch House. 1917. Mwerwin Wooten, Bill Hendry and Coot Hendry with car that was barged over the banana river before there was a bridge from Merritt Island to Cocoa Beach. This house is also known as the the Driftwood House. Driftwood was collected from the beach to build this house but a cargo ship wrecked and timber came washing a shore. Roy dragged the huge timbers across to the Banana River (about where the Lobster Shanty was located), and barged them to a mill (about the 520 and South Tropical Trail area). He gave some timber to the mill owner in trade to have his timber cut in to lumber. Roy Hauled the lumber by barge back to the shore along the Banana River and then dragged the lumber back to the ocean and hired a guy to frame the house.
