Rubick Pleases In Exhibition Gallop Trainer Gerald Ryan walked away a happy man after watching his star colt Rubick (Encosta de Lago-Sliding Cube, by Rock of Gibraltar) work impressively in an exhibition gallop at Rosehill on Saturday, reports breednet.au. The 2YO son of Encosta de Lago, who is part-owned by Coolmore Stud and media personality David Raphael, was electronically timed to run the final 600 metres in 35.65 seconds. Really happy, it was really good, Ryan said. He only went out evens 15 (seconds) from the half-mile, 13 and a bit (seconds) from the three (600m) and ran home 400 (metres). He added, To me watching it, I didnt have a clock on him, he worked very well and his last furlong looked very impressive I thought. Ryan said Rubick will trial at Rosehill over 900m on 4 August before he resumes in the Gr3 San Domenico Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill. After he runs in the San Domenico, hopefully he goes to the Danehill (Stakes at Flemington on September 13), Ryan said. Id like him to have a jump out up the straight before that. He added, Today was all about giving him a look at the track here on raceday and I thought he did everything well. From Breeding and Racing
