Ruffys Day 9 Europe tonights show is in Frankfurt. I wake at 09:50 deliberately missed breakfast today as sometimes you just gotta sleep. The pod like room is very modern a kind of capsule but the lighting is good and the ambience, such as it is controllable from the bed, and the shower head is illuminated with blue LEDs I should mention dear readers that Ruts DC are about to launch a campaign with Pledge music as we release our Live On Stage album as well as the re-release of Rhythm Collision Vol.1, in November 6th this will coincide with our Autumn UK tour, (see dates below) We will also use Pledge music to launch the forthcoming book Love In Vain which is being released on December 3rd. If it goes well it may allow us financially to record new tracks next year. We have given it lots of consideration and feel we can do it without being too cheesy. Speaking of Pledge, yesterday Segs and I got Katja (see pic) to shoot a small interview for the pledge campaign and this morning I need to edit it. We have a later than usual departure today so I hope to have enough time to do that this morning, Im no expert on iMovie but manage the bulk of it. Its our last show with Mutti today, As tomorrows gig is in Norway and we fly there from Frankfurt, I cannot stress enough, how marvellous Mutti has been in this tour. He originally booked the shows around our Norway festival date (tomorrow Saturday) he has done all the driving, sorted the back line, settled at the shows and totally taken care of us, I must add, with no whinging and no second agenda. He is always positive and will give you an honest opinion about anything you care to ask him His assistant Katya is charming and helpful. Thanks to both of you.! It seems every one missed breakfast today and Katya appears with coffee and rolls for us all (see what I mean?) Such consideration is very much appreciated! But time marches on and Its time to leave the trials of Nuremburg and hit the road for Frankfurt. So all aboard and off we go! The traffic flows smoothly and we arrive at the hotel in Frankfurt, the gig is in the same street 200 metres away At the gig we decide its time for a glass of wine there are two bottles, a french merlot and a german organic red called Landleben, we decide on the latter and are pleasantly surprised We find out it is from a local Lidl and sells at around €3, Mutti after soundcheck Mutti goes and gets a couple more .....result! Local Italian provides seafood pasta washed down with San Pellegrino and Chianti. Back to hotel for a 40 minute chill out On the walk back we see There is a Ferrari dealership, did you know dear reader that they make a 4 seater hatchback? This raises the question why would you want a Ferrari that looks like a boy racer? Right next door to the Ferraris there is a Maserati dealership and what a great face they have! I decide on one in each colour, then I wake up and its back to the club. Its our first ever gig in Frankfurt and its a mixed crowd,I recognise faced from Amsterdam and Dusseldorf, its a much better vibe in here than the last gig in Munich. When we take to the stage. We are in good spirits and the music flows effortlessly tonight, the Sound is good, Lee (tonights sound engineer) is right on it. Segs is in storytelling mode, and regales the audience with some tales of our Germanic adventures. Leigh has some grand moments too and we jam Shaking All Over During In a Rut this was something that we occasionally did with Paul Fox back in the day We are really playing as one tonight and we employ new twists and turns in the songs. Whats good about a trio, is that everyone in the band has just two points of reference when playing live and it can create great empathy. I should feel tired after 9 shows in a row but i dont, I feel great and could play for hours, After the show we sit, chill and have a chat and a beer with Mutti and Tanya we are soon joined by local Promoter Frank and sound man Lee. We dont normally relax like this but tonight its the end of this leg of the tour, its been a job well done and it feels great to shoot the breeze after such a rewarding show. Im gonna miss Mutti. Ive never met anyone in Blighty with his drive and enthusiasm. He really sets a standard of how it can be done, so Id like to say publicly right now, THANK YOU MUTTI I wish he was coming to Norway with us tomorrow, but we will be flying to Oslo and he and Katja will be driving back home to our favourite german city Berlin! Back at Hotel I consider the extra baggage scenario at the airport in the morning decide not to worry, so I set alarm and its off to the land of Nod. Gute Nacht!
