Ruling on Giving Children Money on ‘Eid Day – Known as the “Eidy” October 23, 2012 • By Abu Muadh Taqweem Aslam بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم The Permanent Committee of Scholars were asked: Q: “We have small children, and we have become accustomed to giving them a small amount of money on ‘Eid, whether it is ‘Eid ul-Fitr or ‘Eid al-Adha, for the purpose of entering happiness and joy into their hearts, and we term this as the ” ‘Eidy”; so is this ‘Eidy an innovation or is there no issue in it?” A: “There is no problem in that, rather it is from the good customs, since entering happiness and joy into a muslim whether old or young is an affair encouraged by the Pure Shari’ah” [Fatawa of the Permanent Committe 26/247]
