Run Report – 4th October – Junior Volunteer Week If only I could say we had lovely sunny weather but sadly we didn’t: the parkrun weather fairies let us down today (it was throwing it down).I have to mention our fabulous volunteers of course: this is the tenth anniversary of the first ever parkrun: they we celebrated by letting the juniors take over this week. Felix Kemp was run director but his dad kept butting in and grabbed the clipboard of power. Not everyone arrives on time as I found a few late starters sprinting to catch up. Not every junior decided to volunteer though but they did us proud by running brilliantly today. We had two people not running alone: someone with a cute doggy (it was going for a PB and Im not talking about the human!). And Luke Taylor doing a great job bringing along his baby in a pram, who was having a good ride. We had very good enthusiastic volunteers doing some good cheering and I say good job because trust me clapping for a while is hard from my recent experiences getting numb hands. If we look at the times we can see that the first 3 juniors across the line were Elizabeth Apsley who finished in the amazing time of 19:52, Sam Gregory in 21:14 and Paul Peters in 21:47. Elizabeth was also the first female to finish (go girl), followed by Emma Gerrard in 22:01 and Katie OBrien in 22:22, which was her first ever parkrun. Iain Murdoch was first male with a time of 18:14(a new PB) closely followed by William Griffiths with a time of 18:18 and Phillip Warburton in a time of 18:28 (also a PB). WELL DONE. Overall there were 121 runners and 16 new PBs and 9 first timers. Marple parkrun number 122 was brought to you by the following junior volunteers: Cameron Murdoch, Jack Taylor, Milly Harrison, Emily Cross, Jennifer Cordes, JJ Crowther, Harry Dixon, Freya Ellingworth Grundy, Matthew Furniss, James Given, Thomas Gregory, Teddy Smith, Felix Kemp, Caitlin Deighton, Imogen Taylor, and Gabriel Rees (Alex Bradley was ill) Freya Ellingworth Grundy Plus some photos here: parkrun.org.uk/marple/photos/
