Russia against expelling Crimean Tatars from their native land Statement by Yulia Tymoshenko on Russian ban on Crimean Tatar leader Mustafa Dzhemilev entering Crimea: - Today, several days before the anniversary of the tragic deportation of the Crimean Tatars, the Russian invaders who illegally occupied Crimea are again trying to evict the Crimean Tatars from their native land. Crimean Tatar leader Mustafa Dzhemilev has been banned entry to the peninsula by Putin’s authorities. And when thousands of his people made a human chain to allow their leader to cross the illegal checkpoint in Armyansk, Russian soldiers forced the Crimean Tatars and Mustafa Dzhemilev back onto the territory of mainland Ukraine. Unfortunately, history has taught the Russia aggressors and Putin nothing. He still believes he has the right to control the fate of an entire people. I am expressing my solidarity with the Crimean Tatar people and Mustafa Dzhemilev and demand the immediate repeal of any illegal bans on the entry of the leader of the Crimean Tatar people to Crimea. I am confident we will hit back at the aggressor and he will be punished. Ukraine will be unitary and Crimea will again be part of it.
