Russia, the Ukraine and eastern Block Buffer Nations. For 200 yrs. we have set an example to the world (via the Monroe Doctrine) that it is a Right or even a Duty to a Regional power to determine the destiny of its weaker Neighboring Countries. We ( The US) have been determining the destinies of every nation in the Americas, North and South for 200yrs and we have also conceeded that Powers in different Spheres of our planet can excercise those same privileges without our interference (Monroe Doctrine). Although I personally do not agree with the principles or premises of the Doctrine, it has been the driving force of the US foreign policy since we became a world power. It is the reason we have been involved in numerous wars and military actions (both overt and covert) throughout the 19th an 20th centuries. I see it as very hypocritical an absurd that we involve ourselves in other powers spheres of influence an what those powers see as necessary to their own National Security and survival. I wonder how far we (The US) would go to preserve our relationship with Mexico or Canada if the political climate there was favoring Moscow, Beijing or any other power?. Regardless of our vain and idiotic belief that we are a devine Force to impose our way of life on all peoples, each and every nation needs to be left to go through its own journey to attain what it desires and values in this life, no matter how trajic or difficult that path may be. It is exactly that journey that will make a people appreciate and respect what they have. Crimea, Ukraine, the Baltic States and even all of Asia and Europe are not ours to Dictate. Let them determine their own destinies, then we can determine whether we want to have relationships with them or not. This is what the Founding fathers of this Great Nation said upon its inception. keep out of foreign conflict.
