Russian composer, chemist, and doctor Alexander Borodin, was born on 12 November 1833. He was one of the Mighty Handful, a group of five composers dedicated to creating true Russian music. Borodin was a weekend composer, spending more time being a chemist, and a supporter of womens rights, than a composer (to the despair of his composer friends) Borodin is best known for his opera Prince Igor he worked on it off and on for 18 years and it was finished posthumously by Rimsky-Korsakov.
