Ryan Chamberlain you are a good lad & the right age to be put on the correct path by kind, intelligent & compassionate people. You must however add your own two penneth & think everything through before putting it into practice. There are those out there, some of them VERY convincing that will try and encourage you to use abominable aids and methods which are totally wrong.They will tell you that they never use these aids abusively - my argument is then WHY use them at all. Think what a dreadful impression these images give to people that have no comprehension of what is occurring & worse still if whips, e collars, & the above get into the wrong hands look with your own eyes at the suffering caused. The more they are allowed to be used, the more people with no knowledge & a cruel streak lean towards this type of abuse.The only aids a shepherd needs is a crook, a whistle & a line of the correct thickness.Patience & being able to adapt to the individuality of any dog comes in time. THere are many good handlers of sheepdogs out there. Very few are compassionate trainers.If bred right & not sickened by unsympathetic handling, any dog will make a trial dog - some not as good as others but okay in regard to farm work until a better one comes along.A lot of people go through dog after dog because they want it easy, ruining what would have been good prospects in the right hands. Dont go down the CRUEL road Ryan - I ken you have enough savvy not too & will one day make us proud.
