Ryan Seacrest can read your mind! In his spare time, Americas Host (c) has optioned new technology displayed at SXSW, intending to produce a game show pilot for NBC based on this technology. With the working title Whats in Your Brain the premise poses the question What if it were possible to explore your brain in virtual reality, watching your thoughts flashing before your eyes? A neuroscientist and a videogame developer have created a way to do precisely that. Philip Rosedale, creator of the game Second Life, and Adam Gazzaley, a neuroscientist at the University of California San Francisco, combined brain scanning, brain recording and virtual reality to allow a user step inside the structures [of the brain] and see it in this way. With a previous MRI and then electroencephalogram (EEG) electrodes to record brain activity, the scientists explored a living brain in 3D, as flashes of light displayed brain activity from the EEG. The glass brain didnt actually show what Yvette was thinking -- the EEG signals merely painted a picture of her brain activity more broadly. Whats in MY brain? You really dont want to know!
