Ryedale Folk Museum at Hutton le Hole, are staging a fascinating exhibition of costumes and related accessories from their permanent collection in the costume department at the museum. The collection, originally organised and nurtured by retired volunteer Meriel Watson, has over the last twenty years diligently recorded every textile artefact in pen and ink studies. Her notebooks and the actual costumes-ranging from 19th century dresses to 20th century court uniforms and morris men costumes; will be displayed in the gallery at the museum, from 6th July to 5th August. An illustrated book has been produced relating to some of the detailed decorative processes and the social significance of various artefacts in the collection. A thorough mixture of photographs and illustrations. The gallery is open every day between 10am and 4.30pm.....Admission Free. The official opening is Friday, 12th July, at 5:00 PM, with Lady Feversham, Patron of Ryedale Folk Museum. RSVP requested. Limited places only, e-mail response to [email protected] by 3rd July.
