[S]ell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou - TopicsExpress

[S]ell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me. (Lk. 18:22b) Jesus didnt tell everyone to sell everything and follow Him. He told one person to do that--the rich young ruler. It was an individual prescription, not a general instruction. Except a man give up all that he has, he cannot be a disciple of Christ...but giving all that we have to Christ doesnt mean selling it all and becoming homeless unless thats His specific instruction to you. Most people, like Jesus Himself did most of the time, have homes and possessions. The key issue is to be good stewards of what we have--trusting Him in all things rather than trusting in uncertain riches. God would have us surrender all so that He might entrust us with great riches...including earthly ones. In fact, until we can manage earthly riches, we shall not be entrusted with heavenly ones. Too many folks want to skip the schooling process and not be bothered with earthly wealth. Thats not His design. Lk. 16:11 If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?
