SABA, Netherland Antilles...If you want to visit an island in the Eastern Caribbean, Saba is a great destination. Located in the West Indies, Saba, pronounced Say-ba, is 28 miles South of St. Maarten and 10 miles West of St. Eustatius. The good news is that in a few days or so you can explore this gumdrop shaped island. It is only 5 square miles in size which is very small and about 2900 feet high. It is arid on the bottom but the top half is a rain forest with trails to the top. The views from the top are stunning. My favorite place to stay there is Flossies Cottage in Windwardside, but there are many places to stay that are just right for you. The town at the bottom is called, The Bottom, and then you go across the island to a place called Hells Gate. Dont waste time with a car. Taxi is the best way to get around and the food, diving, hiking, and the new friends you will meet is wonderful. Take a look at Saba. It is a gem of a place to spend some time. It is called the Unspoiled Queen.
