SADNESS TONIGHT ON THE R300 Our Horse Care Unit tonight had to respond to an emergency call to assist with a terrible incident on the R300. Three horses had been running wild and caused a serious accident. Two of the horses were hit by a double cab bakkie and one died on impact. The driver of the bakkie was for the most part unharmed as far as we know. The second horse was critically injured and sadly had to be humanely euthanized on scene. The third horse, a mare, has serious injuries, is in serious shock, but was secured by the SPCA and brought safely back to our stables in Grassy Park where she is recuperating and at the moment seems as if she will pull through. Our thoughts also go out to our inspectors and horse care unit manager who had to endure, and manage the consequences of, this sad situation tonight.
