SAINT LOLITA- the back story... When I ventured upon bringing Saint Lolita to life, it was always my hope to create a religiously inspired collection that was both youthful, romantic & sacred. Ive always had a fascination with Roman Catholic art & imagery, and wanted to create a line & fashion show that would reflect those sort of themes. It was incredibly important that the collection always have an emotional connection. And so with shooting Saint Lolita in these series, I really wanted to create images that evoke conflicting emotions- sort of similar to classic Roman Catholic paintings- where the art aesthetics are romantic & beautiful, but the themes are painful & grim. I want people to be curious, disturbed but intrigued. Where it hurts to look but you cannot help but stare. I hope this sort of makes sense to the few of you...who understand my inspirations & madness. With Mckenna & Sassas set by Regina, I had a vision of two young & beautiful ladies finding a sliver of hope & comfort within each other in a dark desperate place.
