SAM, our magnificent seven-year-old Russian Blue with the amazing green eyes, was surrendered to the shelter in mid November because his owners were moving and couldn’t take him with them. This is always hard for a cat, and Sam was particularly distraught, making it clear with his pitiful meows that he hated being in a kennel. We knew he just wanted a real home again with space to explore and a warm lap that he could claim as his own. It was clear that this affectionate, funny boy loved people---but the right person just wasn’t coming along. Then on Friday, Sam received his belated Christmas gift in the form of a couple who were ready at last, after the passing of their cat, to open their hearts to another kitty. After spending some time with Sam, they knew they wanted him, and this kitty went home. After talking with Sam’s new mom, Virginia, this morning, I was all smiles. Sam is now BAILEY, and Virginia says she has never had a cat who settled in so beautifully. and so quickly. He is a full-fledged family member who sleeps on their bed, rules the roost, and whose meows have now turned to, “Yay, I’m HOME!” Virginia says they and their new boy are incredibly happy. That same day Virginia and her husband also adopted a brother for Sam: Five month old MULLENS, an adorable Lynx Point mix will be neutered on Tuesday and then he, too, will be going home to a family who can hardly wait to shower love on both of their new boys.
