SAN BERNARDINO >> A fatal crash shut down the southbound 215 Freeway at Fifth Street on Saturday morning, prompting a SigAlert, the California Highway Patrol reported. Shortly before 9 a.m., the CHP began receiving calls about a collision on the southbound 215 involving a motorcycle and at least three other vehicles. The motorcycle rider, a 61-year-old man from San Bernardino, lost control of his vehicle and hit the car in front of him, throwing him in mid-air, according to authorities. He landed in the center divider. He was taken to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton, where he was pronounced dead, according to the Coroner’s Office website. His name was being withheld until next of kin have been notified. A witness reported seeing four people injured in the incident, not including the fatality. That information had not been confirmed by CHP officials. Traffic was diverted onto Base Line but there were reports of major slowing on the northbound side of the 215 Freeway as well as on the 210 Freeway. The freeway re-opened around 11:30 a.m., authorities said
