SAN BERNARDINO, CALIFORNIA - From Leslie Leslie Levenson DauI: WAS GETTING READY FOR BED WHEN MARIA SENT ME A VIDEO OF GINGER BEING DUMPED TODAY AT SAN BERNARDINO CITY SHELTER (youtube/watch?v=WL13UE080-Q). Now Im wide awake and full of sadness, hurt, anger, loathing, concern, and desperation. I have almost never seen a dog so terrified, so traumatized, and so betrayed. Gingers family brought her to San Bernardino City Shelter to be killed. They bred her, probably sold her puppies, and dumped her to die terrified and alone in the high-kill facility. Ginger was almost lifeless as she watched her family at the counter signing her away. She wouldnt stand or walk when her owner tried to take her to the back so he dragged Ginger along the floor and out the door by her leash with Maria telling him to pick her up. He finally carried Ginger, and as they walked to the back the other dogs started barking and Ginger was so scared she pooped. Gingers little boy watched the whole thing and pet his dog and waved goodbye as kennel staff took her way. Ginger has to spend the next 2 days alone in the shelter...scared, shaking, and shut down. The shelter reopens on Tuesday, 2/4, and I want to be sure there is a plan in place to save Ginger as soon as they unlock the doors at 10am. Gingers video will break your heart...please let it inspire you to help this dog that is suffering. She needs our advocacy and commitment now.
