SARAKI POLITICAL DYNASTY SYMBOLIZES FREEDOM- GBEMISOLA SARAKI Fellow Nigerians and Kwarans, permit me to birth this discourse with a quote from English Novelist, George Orwell. It says ” The most effective way to destroy people is to deny and obliterate their understanding of their history”. This is necessary due to recent occurrences in Kwara State. Some traitors cum political contractors under the aegis of Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) have been chanting a chorus of deceit and fakery recently because of 2015 elections. Most Nigerians have modified the name of this political party to Poverty Development Party(PDP) because it has held Nigerians in bondage of poverty, unemployment, insecurity and many others. The chorus of these nocturnal politicians is “freedom for kwara” and they have even gone to the extent of recruiting politicians who can not free their home states from poverty and insecurity for this mission. They are poor students of history and I intend to guide them with history. Though, they are beneficiaries of Saraki political dynasty but they failed to learn enough before their decisions to live as traitors. In Kwara State, Saraki political dynasty symbolises freedom. A dynasty that made a son of tailor a Minister. A dynasty that has made persons from poor background Ministers, Governors, Ambassadors, Senators et al. No freedom can be more than this feet. The Saraki dynasty was not built because of elections but oriented towards the upliftment of the needy at the grassroot level. In 1971, when the military government of Chief David Bamigboye was discriminately acquiring land in ilorin community without adequate consultations and payment of compensation to land owners, Dr Abubakar Olusola Saraki was the rallying point of the people. He fought with his personal resources and ensured freedom for the oppressed people. On 2nd of April, 1974, the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union(IEDPU) launched an intervention fund for road projects to address the bad state of roads and also construction of new roads in ilorin and environs, Dr Saraki’s donation of #10,000 was the biggest at the occasion. This was freedom for people from death traps on the roads. He also donated towards and built projects like mosques, boreholes, recreational facilities, community bank, primary and secondary schools, empowerment projects et al. All these interventions represent freedom in their rights. Dr Saraki as the Chairman, National Party of Nigeria(NPN) in 1979 nominated Alhaji Akanbi Oniyangi as the sole candidate of the party for ministerial appointment even when he had the option of forwarding three nominees for the slot. Alhaji Oniyangi who later became a minister of many ministries was from Adanla community in kwara State. The dynasty gave freedom to this minority group. The story of how this dynasty made Alhaji Adamu Atta; also from a minority group, the first civilian governor of kwara State is also a freedom story. When Alhaji Atta and Alhaji Oniyangi connived to fight this dynasty, they both lost out as Chief Cornelius Adebayo who was the candidate of Dr Saraki in the 1983 elections defeated Governor Adamu Atta. That crises consumed the NPN but Saraki dynasty ensured freedom for the people. Nigerians can still remember the story of late Governor Mohammed Alabi Lawal and the Saraki Political dynasty. Saraki dynasty stood for freedom and freedom was achieved. This dynasty has always fought for freedom of kwarans even in the military era. The former Minister of Sports, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi said “a political dynasty that turned a son of a tailor to a Minister is a dynasty that represents true freedom”, this account is a self-testimonial. This political dynasty is not about 2015 elections and no amount of external aggression can save the PDP from rejection by the people of kwara State. The scion of Saraki political dynasty, Senator Bukola Saraki is marching on strongly and has become the rallying point for the people of Kwara State. It is noteworthy that he has ended the political rivalry between the people of Offa and Ilorin that is dated back years of Unity Party of Nigeria(UPN) and the National Party of Nigeria(NPN). He has brought lots of hardwork and responsiveness to the political leadership of Ilorin emirate and kwara State. Much has been achieved and he has declared his willingness to work with all sons and daughters of kwara state for the development of the people and the State. The Saraki dynasty has always fought and won battles. There was no PDP in kwara State until the Saraki dynasty adopted PDP in 2003. What the PDP is bringing on now is not a battle but a storm in tea cup which is not a threat to Saraki political dynasty. I advise these traitors parading themselves as PDP Leaders to get acquainted with the story of the infamous Norwegian Politician, Quisling Vidkun. With the perpetual support of the people, the Saraki political dynasty will win all elections for APC in 2O15. This dynasty symbolises freedom.
