Well last night it was my turn to be victimized by the delinquent - TopicsExpress

Well last night it was my turn to be victimized by the delinquent gangs roaming the streets of this burg lately. This whole section of town is simply at their mercy because the sadly understaffed police department simply cannot be everywhere at once though I know they do care and they try their best. This time it was a brick through my truck window which sits on a well traveled corner directly under a streetlight, That is their thing this week, throwing bricks at cars and houses. It is alarming how much bolder they have become lately, and both the frequency of incidents and degree of damage they do is increasing. It is only a matter of time before it escalates beyond mere threats and vandalism till someones pet or a person gets hurt or God forbid, killed. Long past time to put a for sale sign in the yard and get away from here if we can. Problem is that very few people want to live in a town (or a state) which no longer has much to offer the ordinary working stiff, let alone to a neighborhood where hoodlums know they can run rampant without fear of reprisal, meaning there are 3-4 houses for sale on every block. Making the chances of selling ours and getting enough for it to buy another home without going deep into debt slim indeed. Never thought I would ever say this but I have finally decided to buy myself a shotgun which will easily hit the target at which it is pointed even if the hands holding it are shaking, and I swear that if one of them breaks in here and/or comes at me I will not hesitate to shoot if simply racking a shell into the chamber is not sufficient to back them off me. Property can be replaced or repaired, and I am really not all that upset about the window though certainly it was not a great way to start the day and the prospect of spending a couple hundred bucks to fix it is rather less than thrilling, but fortunately I have the money so I am luckier than some. Stuff is just stuff, but nobody is EVER going to attack me again if I can help it, never. And if I ever catch one of them so much as making a move as if to hurt one of my dogs or cats, ditto. Go ahead. Make my day. BOOM. Looks like I will be doing some shooting practice at the farm in the next few weeks.
