SATAWU strike: check those flights ETNW -27 Tue, Aug 2013 The strike launched by members of SATAWU against SAA Technical seemed to have little or no impact on flight operations yesterday but Acsa has advised passengers to contact their respective airlines for updates on their operations. SATAWU is deadlocked in wage negotiations with SAA Technical, where it is demanding a 12% increase, while the airline is only offering a 6.5% increase. Acsa said that, given the status afforded to its airports by the National Key Point Act, it could assure passengers that no striking workers would be permitted to demonstrate inside its airport premises across the country. In a statement SAA said that it would like to assure all its customers that minimal disruptions have been experienced as a result of the staff strike. The airline is committed to business continuity and has activated a contingency plan to avoid any unnecessary inconvenience to our customers. Passengers are encouraged to visit the website flysaaa for the latest flight status or to contact the SAA Call Centres or Service Centres.
