SATURDAY NOREASTER, BUT NOT A MAJOR SNOWSTORM With a good supply of cold air lacking the Nor’easter that will be coming up the coast on Saturday will be pulling in “milder” ocean air that will lead to a transition from snow to mix to rain across the heart of our area. This will greatly limit the snowfall totals. Start time: 10pm to 1am on Friday night Peak: 3am to 9am Saturday Wraps Up: Noon to 3pm Saturday Looking at Philadelphia by itself there is likely snow with some sleet mixing in between 12am and 4am Saturday. Then a transition from sleet to rain between 4am and 7am with all rain for the rest of the event beyond 7am. It is during the wee hours of Saturday morning that we will pick up 1” to 3”. After that we will see around 1/3 of rain. The Lehigh Valley will likely stay all snow, but lower precip totals give them around 3” to 4” of snow. For much of the I-95 corridor and immediate western suburbs 1” to 3” will do it with sleet mixing in and then rain. For central Delaware and southern New Jersey a quick coating of snow will be washed away by ¾” to 1” of rain. High temperatures on Saturday will reach the upper 30s. Yet another chance of snow arrives Sunday night into Monday as a clipper type system dives toward the Mid Atlantic. How much it interacts with a developing coastal storm will determine snowfall amounts. Paul Trombello Weather Producer/Meteorologist
