SAVE THE DATE: Rebecca Center for Music Therapy at Molloy College will hosting a Research Conference ON MAY 1ST, 2015! DEVELOPMENTAL INTERVENTIONS FOR AUTISM: EVIDENCE-BASED RESEARCH Friday, May 1, 2015; 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. ● Hays Theatre, Wilbur Arts Center, Rockville Centre campus The Rebecca Center for Music Therapy at Molloy College will be hosting a one-day conference, Developmental Interventions for Autism: Evidence-Based Research on Friday, May 1, 2015; 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. This unique conference will be co-sponsored by the Interdisciplinary Council for Development & Learning (ICDL). The purpose of the conference is to highlight developmental interventions in the world of evidence-based research. We are THRILLED to have as our The keynote speaker, Devin Casenhiser, Ph.D., of the University of Tennessee. Dr. Casenhisers research explores functional (i.e., communicative) and cognitive factors that affect language learning in neurotypical and autistic populations. He has published research investigating the effects of homonymy on lexical acquisition, how the distribution of lexical input affects childrens ability to learn grammatical constructions, and together with colleagues in Canada, Dr. Casenhiser has developed and tested a social-interaction based intervention designed to improve the social-communication abilities of children diagnose with autism spectrum disorders.
