SCAM WARNING- My personal experience. Monday a.m. I got a call from a guy saying my son was involved in a fender bender with this guys crazy, drug dealing brother and the brother was holding my son hostage at gunpoint until he got $ for the damage. The caller was very polite, apologetic, kept me engaged on the phone for over an hour while he had me go to my bank, withdraw the max ($600), and money gram it to his sister in Puerto Rico because the parts are cheaper there. Of course, after he got confirmation of the $ he disconnected call. I know you are probably thinking youd know this was a scam, but he had me when he said my son was in danger. Id give my life for my son and I couldnt even think then! I immediately called my sons work and thank God he was there safe! I am still so traumatized and if it hadnt been MLK Day and the bank was closed, Id have drained my account! Ive tried to put a plan in place in case this happens again, not sure I wouldnt do the same thing again though.
