SCE is looking to hire a Chief Accountant. Candidate must have 10+ years of experience in finance, AP/AR, payroll, and general ledger reporting. Experience in the construction or service industry a plus. In SCE, the Chief Accountant provides financial leadership for SCE to include ensuring proper accounting practices are followed, proper tax compliance and regulatory practices are followed, banking relationships are properly managed and supervising the purchasing department. SCEs Chief Accountant will prepare jobs cost reports, AIA requisitions, payroll, etc. The Chief Accountant will work directly for the CFO. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: -Conducts detailed P&L, overhead and job cost analysis on all projects and businesses. -Actively oversees the performance of financial status/performance of field projects to ensure compliance with budgets and corporate procedures -Advises management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax code revisions and ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations. -Manages relationship with banks and other financial institutions to ensure adequate cash flow and lines of credit are available at the lowest possible interest rates -Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies. -Coordinates the month-end, quarterly and year-end closing process. Prepares timely and accurate statements and provides written and verbal evaluations/recommendations. -Develops and implements the accounts payable, accounts receivable, accounting and collections departments policies and procedures. -Communicate regularly with vendors and subcontractors -- proactively communicates regarding payment timing and schedules to maintain positive working relationships -Supervises purchasing and ensure proper systems are being used and implemented. -Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Must have a minimum of 10 years hands on managerial accounting experience along with experience working with senior executives, outside auditors, banks and insurance companies. Exceptional communication and negotiating skills. Proficient knowledge of Excel, Lotus or other spreadsheet packages along with exceptional problem solving and analytical skills. Bachelors degree in Accounting; MBA & CPA certification a plus.
