SCOTT OTT NOTES: In the chatter about GOP 2016, South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley needs to be in the mix...whether she wants it or not. She just spoke to Red State Gathering, and for the first time in years I thought, Thats the President of the United States. While Gov. Rick Perry (TX) and Sen. Ted Cruz (TX) come across as powerful speakers, and would make good presidents, Haley even more than Perry comes across as a competent CEO. She spoke without prompter or notes, graciously, cheerfully, confidently. Shes got a spine of steel and a winsome personality. After the speech, I asked her a quick question about the importance of executive experience, and she answered with aplomb, as one who does it. Principles with practical application -- a good combination.
