SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY: LOVING DARKNESS MORE Men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil! John 3:19 A missionary by the name of Anstein once visited a small pagan village with his assistant in the depths of the jungle. The village was not only known for its idol – worship; a seminar for demonic priests, who were instructed in all kinds of black magic, was also housed there. The two missionaries were not deterred from preaching the gospel of the grace of God to the chief of the village. When he and his subjects had listened to the message of the missionary, he stated, “You have said that, we are still living in darkness, you are bringing light. That is the last thing we need. We don’t want people to see what we are doing here. We feel perfectly all right in the darkness and want to stay in it.” Another member of his tribe added, “I support the opinion of the chief.” A third person claimed, “We are too old to change our ways,” while a fourth actually believed they were too stupid to do so. The fifth speaker simply said, “Let’s wait a bit.” Then two lads of about fifteen jumped to their feet, exclaiming, “We have had enough of the darkness. We want light and salvation!” What a fateful choice to decide to remain in darkness so as to conceal one’s evil works, which God will reveal in any case one day! And it is foolish to decide to wait until one is ready to accept God’s message by faith, in order to obtain salvation. The time may never come! May none of you make this error, which has earnest consequences, but rather desire light and salvation. Where the desire is sincere God will certainly grant it Have a glorious day
