SEE THIS BIG PICTURE Only we the diehard Liberians can fight this cause. Fear, quietude or our inactions and myopic visions will plague our nations bright future. Ellens generation has failed us as their so called educations were never used to benefit our country. From Ellens role as finance minister under President Tolbert, her private role at the UN, to becoming President of Liberia culminate to her egotistical drive to dominate or manipulate and undermine the sanctity of our country. Up to my departure from Liberia, Ellen had not own even a hut in Liberia. I am told she continues to live in her relative home by the Fish Market in Sinkor. This farm to city mentality will be put to halt one day shortly-where Liberia is the farm and America the City. This is one indication to prove my argument right. She made the international community to believe that Samuel Doe was corrupt, inexperienced and tyrannical. She is even worse. Can you imagine even in the presence of the international peace keeping mission (UNMIL), Ellen has political prisoners as well as those she terms as trouble makers(e.g. Mulbah Morlu and others ) are in prison. What then is the marked difference between her and Doe? I bet you, if UNMIL were never present, I supposed, the death row would have given the true nature of Ellen. Socrates said, To know the true nature of man, give him power and money. We have given power and money to Ellen; she is showing her true color. Doe gave us aluminum light poles and pipe bond water. Ellen replaced all with wood poles. The question is, where or who are those aluminum light poles gone to? Under Doe, our country had trade balance where export and import were at equilibrium thus leaning towards trade surplus. Today, the trade deficit is killing our people as foreign markets keep dictating prices that our people are finding it hard to cope with. Yes, our economy under Doe was fully employed. The disposable income was very meaningful then as inflation was never a termed in our local dictionary. LD$250.00 was better than the LD$6,000 civil servants are paid today. It is Ellen who introduced the term by masterminding war in our country and knowing fully well the consequence of that enterprise, but she chose it to prove my argument of her egoistic nature to plague our countrys future. I have mentioned this before in past critiques of this government. If Ellen means well for Liberia, she should pay Civil Servants the equivalent of prewar salaries. That is, pay them $250.00 prewar status salary multiplied by the current $US rate in Liberia ( LD$250.00 X US$70.00 =LD$17,000). Even if the argument is prewar average salary for Civil Servant was LD$150.00, if you did the math, it stills proves my argument right. It means the average salary should be LD$150.00 multiplied by US$70.00 which equals LD$10,500. This will enable households to put food on their kitchen tables, pay their rents and at least keep some for rainy days in their lives. My most regret is, people we then called ‘comrades’, when we studied at the UL, who we joined to advocate for social justice and tranquility, are in this very government holding key positions, but pretend not to see the negative vices perpetuated by this corrupt government. But I have news for them; they all will have their days in court shortly. They will receive latches from the public for their quietude. IT IS TIME THAT WE ALL IMAGINE A POSITIVE PICTURE OF WHAT WE EXPECT LIBERIA TO BE SHORTLY.
