SEEK DAILY (NIGERIAN BAPTIST CONVENTION) Thursday, October 3 Genesis 17:1-8 THE COVENANT PROMISE TO ABRAM “I will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant between me and you and your descendants after you ….” Genesis 13:7, NIV It is normal and common for someone to be promised something or some measure of help by a friend, relative or anyone close. However, people sometimes fail in their promises not because they want to, but because of circumstances beyond their control. It is only God’s promise that one can be sure of its fulfillment because He has control over everything. Through promise, God changed Abram’s status elevating him from an “exalted father” to a “father of nations.” God gave him the entire land of Canaan as an inheritance to him and his descendants. The promise of God was eventually fulfilled in Joshua 21:43-45. It is important for us to know that an encounter with God will bring about a change in our status. Also, God’s promises to us will be fulfilled because “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent ….” (Numbers 23:19, KJV). God’s promise to you is on the way!
