SELYO (2014) Pampanga West Drama, Suspense | 33min INC minister Ka Robert (Rogelio Masiclat) and his wife Ka Rosa (Princess Anne Dagal) are adjusting to life in Los Angeles, their new locale designation. One morning, the couple receives a snail mail from Ka Fronio (Ruben Bazar), a close friend from one of their former locales in Pampanga, Philippines. Ka Robert and Ka Rosa are delighted to find the FYM commemorative stamp on the envelope — but what is more delightful is the content of Ka Fronio’s letter, which takes us back several years ago, to vivid memories of the past, of how Ka Robert, as a young church worker back then, changed so many lives — as well as the unforgettable incident when he was abducted by a leftist group, headed by Commander Maoro (Christobher Mallari). But along with Ka Fronio’s letter is another surprise — a major one — that truly makes this film unforgettable. Filled with action, suspense, drama, and sharp arguments, the film emotionally connects. What is also notable in “Selyo” is the lead male cast, who aptly fit their roles, bringing to life the richly developed characters. “Selyo,” written and directed by Daniel Corbe, Jr., is a moving and profoundly spiritual tale of discovering and embracing the truth, and then firmly holding onto it even at the most life-threatening times.
