SERIOUSLY INJURED SCHOOLBOY TRANSFERRED TO BELFAST HOSPITAL October 8, 2013 The teenager who sustained serious injuries when he was struck by a car in the Templemore Sports Complex area of Derry last night has been transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast for treatment. The scene at the accident on Buncrana Road. The 17-year-old pedestrian, believed to be pupil at St Columb’s College, was knocked down close to Templegrove on the Buncrana Road at shortly after 8.30pm. He was initially rushed to Altnagelvin Hospital but has since been moved to the Royal. The road between Branch Roundabout and the entrance of Templegrove was closed overnight while traffic was diverted via Coshquin Road and Whitehouse. The road was reopened before daylight this morning and traffic is flowing normally. Police have appealed to anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone who was travelling on the Buncrana Road around this time to contact them at Strand Road Police Station on 0845 600 8000.
