SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING - SOUTHEAST QUEENSLANDfor DAMAGING WIND SHARE AND TAG FAMILY OR FRIENDS For people in parts of the Scenic Rim, Southern Downs, Toowoomba and Lockyer Valley Council Areas. Issued at 8:54 pm Wednesday, 5 November 2014. The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 8:50 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near the area northwest of Warwick and the area north of Warwick. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east. They are forecast to affect the area northeast of Warwick, Felton and Pittsworth by 9:20 pm and the area southwest of Toowoomba, Cunninghams Gap and Cambooya by 9:50 pm. Damaging winds are likely. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure loose outdoor items. * Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees. * Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm. * Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500. The next warning is due to be issued by 9:55 pm. A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West, Wide Bay and Burnett, Maranoa and Warrego, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast districts.
