SEVERE WEATHER BULLETIN NUMBER NINE TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING: TYPHOON GLENDA (RAMMASUN) Issued at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, 15 July 2014 Typhoon Glenda is now over Albay gulf as it approaches Legazpi City. Location of Center: (as of 4:00 p.m.) 60 km East of Legazpi Coordinates: 13.1°N, 124.3°E Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 130 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 160 kph. Movement: Forecast to move West Northwest at 19 kph. Forecast Positions/Outlook: Tuesday evening: expected to make landfall over Albay then cross the Bicol Region tonight towards Southern Luzon Wednesday morning: expected to pass Metro Manila before noon Wednesday afternoon: in the vicinity of Bataan and will move towards West Philippine Sea Thursday afternoon: 370 km West of Sinait, Ilocos Sur outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility PSWS # 3 (Winds of 101-185 kph is expected in at least 18 hrs) Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Masbate including Burias and Ticao Islands, Quezon including Polillo Islands, Batangas, Laguna, Rizal and Marinduque,Northern Samar and northern part of Samar and Eastern Samar PSWS # 2 (Winds of 61-100 kph is expected in at least 24 hrs) Southern Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Zambales, Pampanga, Bulacan, Bataan, Cavite, Lubang Island, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon and Metro Manila Biliran, rest of Samar, rest of Eastern Samar, and northern part of Leyte province PSWS #1 (winds of 30 - 60 kph is expected in atleast 36 hours) Northern Aurora, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Benguet, La Union, and Occidental Mindoro, Rest of Leyte, Southern Leyte, and Northern Cebu including Cebu City and Camotes Islands Residents in low lying and mountainous areas under signal #3, #2 & #1 are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides. Likewise, those living in coastal areas under signal #3 and #2 are alerted against storm surges of up to three (3) meters. Estimated rainfall amount is from 7.5 – 20 mm per hour (moderate - intense) within the 500 km diameter of the Typhoon. Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the Eastern seaboards of Luzon and of Visayas.
