SEVERE WEATHER WARNING FOR DAMAGING WINDS FOR ILLAWARRA AND SOUTH COAST (and pretty much all of the central and south of NSW) FOR MON 30/9/13: A vigorous cold front will bring damaging winds to southern and central NSW during late Monday and Tuesday. Gusty north to northwesterly winds will develop during Monday ahead of a strong cold front that will reach southwestern New South Wales tonight (30/9/13). The front will then move across the central and southeastern parts of the State during Tuesday morning. Damaging winds around 60 km/h with peak gusts over 90 km/h are forecast to develop during Monday afternoon or evening for parts of the Lower Western, Riverina, South West Slopes and Snowy Mountains forecast districts. Alpine Peaks may experience winds over 80 km/h with peak gusts over 120 km/h. Damaging winds are likely to expand across the central and southeastern districts on Tuesday morning. The NSW State Emergency Service advises that people should: - Move vehicles under cover or away from trees. - Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony. - Keep clear of fallen power lines.
