SGM Lends a Helping Hand On a glorious weekend in September, SGM teamed up with Habitat for Humanity and the hardworking local homeowner to help make a house a home. SGM’ers showed up to lend a helping hand in the construction process. From framing to sheathing, the SGM crew spent all day working with other volunteers and the homeowner to further the construction process. “What a wonderful opportunity to use our talents to help make a local resident’s dream of home ownership a reality,” said Dan Richardson, SGM’s MEP team leader. “We’re proud to partner with Habitat for Humanity to build stronger communities.” Currently, there are three Habitat for Humanity - Vail Valley duplexes under construction at Stratton Flats in Gypsum. The Habitat for Humanity homes are scheduled for completion in December and will house six local very deserving families. Habitat for Humanity - Vail Valley was founded in 1995. Since 1995, Habitat for Humanity – Vail Valley has served 49 families through housing - improving the lives of nearly 175 children. Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, community and hope. Anchored by the conviction that housing provides a critical foundation for breaking the cycle of poverty, Habitat for Humanity International has helped more than 4 million people construct, rehabilitate or preserve homes since 1976. Habitat works in more than 70 countries, worldwide, and welcomes people of all races, religions and nationalities to partner in its mission.
